Pars Today- The chairman of Iran's Ophthalmology Association informed of the success of the country's physicians in transplantation of artificial cornea as one of the most common eye diseases.

According to Pars Today, Jabarvand added, "These surgical operations of corneal transplantation in Iran are successfully done with the use of indigenous artificial cornea and they have no problem in comparison with the foreign types."

He then reiterated, "In the cases when the stem cells have been destroyed, both eyes of the patient have a problem and the stem cells of the father, mother, brother or sister cannot be used, artificial cornea can be used to remove the problem."

The chairman of Iran's Ophthalmology Association, explaining that ophthalmology in Iran is comparable with advanced countries in terms of specialty, skill and medical equipment, made it clear, "In a country like Canada, if a person is suffering from cataract, he should stand in a long queue for surgical operation and people have a very limited access to sub-specialists while the expenses are very high, but in Iran, this operation is done with the lowest cost and best specialists."
