Pars Today- Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said the EU and British allegations against Iran are hypocritical and aimed at deviating public opinion from today's top issue, that is, the genocide of the Palestinian people and warmongering of the Zionist regime in West Asia.

Esmail Baqaei, Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, described the EU and British ratification of new sanctions against some of the Iranian real and legal persons on baseless grounds as an unjustified move and contrary to the codes of the international rights, especially human rights, and strongly condemned them.

Pars Today, quoting from the Iranian foreign ministry's website, reported that Baqaei ruled out the claims on the sale of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran's stance about the Ukrainian conflict is clear and principled as, since the beginning of the clashes, Iran has opposed war and, stressing the respect of all countries for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of each other, has called for a diplomatic solution in order to settle the differences of Russia and Ukraine. Nevertheless, unfortunately, some of the European countries and Britain, without any document or evidence, have claimed Iran's military meddling in the conflict which is totally rejected."

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said the EU and British allegations against Iran are hypocritical and aimed at deviating public opinion from today's top issue, that is, the genocide of the Palestinian people and warmongering of the Zionist regime in West Asia. Pointing to the role of some of the European countries, including Britain and Germany, to provide lethal weapons used by the Zionist regime for genocide and aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, called these countries as partners of the crimes committed against the people of Palestine and Lebanon. He reminded the legal obligations of countries based on the convention to prevent genocide and considered the provision of arms for the Zionist regime as violation of international rights and causing international responsibility.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, stressing Tehran's definite right to military and defense cooperation with other countries, including Russia, in order to maintain and strengthen its defense needs for protection of national interests and security, and defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty, reiterated,

"Iran's defense and military cooperation with other countries is not against any third party and, [thus], no third party is entitled to interfere in the legal and legitimate decision of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate with other countries."

Baqaei described the EU measure as contradictory and uncompliant with the claims of the European countries on human rights and interaction, and stressed that sanctioning passenger airliners is in clear violation of the codes and regulations of international rights, particularly human rights and fundamental human freedoms and is condemned.

Emphasizing on Iran's right to adopt measures and give proportionate responses to the illegal and unjustified EU sanctions, Baqaei recommended to the union to obey the rules of international rights and moral and human norms of the member states so that it may stop the sale of arms to the fake Zionist regime, thereby prevent the continuation of genocide in Gaza and Lebanon and escalation of insecurity and tension in the region.
