Pars Today - Iran's Minister of Energy announced the 5-year plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran to produce 50,000 megawatts of electricity through the development of renewable power plants.

Abbas Aliabadi, Iran's Minister of Energy, said at the 3rd Iran Energy Efficiency and Optimization Conference: "Given the supportive policies of the Ministry of Energy, with the help of the private sector and the people, the capacity to produce renewable energy in Iran will increase to 50,000 megawatts by the next 5 years."

According to Pars Today, quoting ISNA, Aliabadi added: "Iran ranks second in gas reserves and fourth in oil reserves in the world. In Iran, 110 million liters of diesel, 120 million liters of gasoline, 730 million cubic meters of natural gas, and 55 million liters of mazut are produced daily, all of which prove that Iran's energy production capacity is very high."

Aliabadi also said: "The Ministry of Energy has planned 14 large projects to successfully pass the peak load of next year, including the construction of new thermal and renewable power plants, increasing the efficiency of existing power plants, timely repairs of power plants, management and optimization of consumption, and smartening the industry."

The development of renewable energy in Iran has received special attention in recent years. Previously, Mohsen Tarztalab, the head of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran, stated: "An exceptional opportunity has been created in the field of renewables, and unprecedented support has been provided by the Iranian government and the Islamic Consultative Assembly for the renewable electricity industry."

In the 13th government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, more than 10,382 megawatts were added to Iran's power plant capacity, and about 22,000 megawatts of power plants are under construction, with a progress rate of 10 to 95 percent.
