Pars Today – Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, emphasizing the deep cultural, historical, and linguistic ties between Iran and Tajikistan, proposed the establishment of a high-level joint committee on Persian language, literature, culture, and civilization, comprising intellectuals from cultural institutions and academic circles of both countries.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Aref made the proposal on Thursday during a joint meeting of high-level delegations from Iran and Tajikistan in Dushanbe. He stressed the importance of these deep ties and suggested that the committee work to counter identity erosion while organizing and strengthening the capacities of the people of Iran, Tajikistan, and other enthusiasts of Persian culture worldwide.

Aref, noting that Tajikistan feels like a second homeland for Iran, added that one of the advantages of Iran-Tajikistan relations is their proximity and shared civilizational region, which has facilitated and developed bilateral ties over the past three decades.

Referring to diplomatic visits by senior Tajik officials to Iran, he highlighted that during the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Tajikistan, a business meeting was held between economic actors of both countries, resulting in the signing of 13 cooperation agreements worth over $450 million.

Aref also pointed out the implementation of a visa waiver agreement between the two countries, noting that it has significantly increased tourism travel between Iran and Tajikistan.

Tajikistan’s Prime Minister, for his part, expressed gratitude for Iran’s efforts in implementing agreements signed during the presidents’ visits. He emphasized that Iran’s firm commitment to strengthening ties with Tajikistan reflects the brotherly, sincere, and friendly relations between the two nations, united by a shared language and history.

Qahir Rasulzadeh, referring to the joint cooperation commission and the signing of 13 agreements worth over $450 million, stated that Tajikistan is keen to benefit from Iran’s experiences in various sectors. He added that the visa waiver could significantly enhance private sector cooperation and boost tourism capacity.

The Tajik Prime Minister underscored that the shared cultural, linguistic, and historical values binding the people of Iran and Tajikistan serve as a foundation for the growth and development of bilateral relations.
