Iranian grandmaster wins Karpov Cup in Russia

Pars Today – Iranian chess grandmaster Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei has clinched an early victory at the 2025 Karpov International Chess Tournament in Russia, finishing undefeated.

According to Pars Today, quoting IRIB News Agency, Tabatabaei delivered a brilliant performance, securing the championship title before the tournament concluded.

After eight rounds, Tabatabaei accumulated 5.5 points, establishing a 1.5-point lead over his closest rival and thus claiming first place ahead of schedule. His record included 3 wins, 5 draws, and no losses, making him the undefeated early champion of the tournament.
