Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that Iran remains steadfast in its principled position on Yemen.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters on Friday that, while outlining the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position on the Saudi Arabia–Yemen conflict, he reaffirmed Iran’s principled stance that Saudi Arabia and Yemen must engage in dialogue to resolve their differences through diplomacy.
Baghaei stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been ready to use its good offices to help end the hostilities and remains prepared to draw on all its capabilities to that end if requested by the parties involved.
Referring to the history of the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Baghaei noted that developments over the past 12 years had shown that foreign intervention, a military approach and a blockade were not solutions to Yemen’s problems.
He said the Yemeni people had endured the country’s naval and air blockade for more than a decade, patiently bearing the consequences of an unjust blockade designed by actors from outside the region, particularly Britain and the United States. However, he added, countries in the region and the Islamic world were expected to make efforts to bring this situation to an end.
