Massive explosion on super tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Pars Today – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy announced early Saturday that a supertanker had exploded after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the IRGC Navy’s statement reads as follows:

“A rogue supertanker carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil and attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz through an unauthorized route struck a mine, triggering an incident that resulted in a massive explosion and a severe fire.

“The tanker had switched off all its positioning and radar systems and attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz through deception and with the support of the US army of smugglers and terrorists.

“The IRGC Navy declares that the Strait of Hormuz is closed. The fate of vessels that violate Iranian regulations governing the Strait of Hormuz is to be consumed by the flames of their trust in the US terrorist army.”
