Pars Today – The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, speaking at a UN Security Council session on the situation in Palestine, stated that the Israeli occupying regime has become a clear and serious threat to regional and international peace and security.

According to Pars Today, at the recent UN Security Council meeting, Amir Saeed Iravani, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, described the Israeli regime as a clear and serious threat to regional and global peace and security. He added that through its unchecked military actions and widespread violations, the regime has become a major source of instability in the region and beyond.

Iravani said that the unprecedented attacks on Gaza over the past two years have been genocidal in nature, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 68,000 Palestinians, including 20,000 children. He added that the complete destruction of Gaza’s essential infrastructure — including hospitals, schools, and water systems — has turned the enclave into a devastated land.

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations recalled that Iran itself has also been the target of direct attacks by the Zionist regime — including the large-scale strikes in June 2025 on residential areas and Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. These attacks, he noted, resulted in the martyrdom of 1,100 civilians and the injury of more than 5,700 others.

Iravani also emphasized that Iran is calling for an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza, the complete withdrawal of occupying forces, the establishment of a permanent cease-fire, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the enclave. He stated that achieving justice requires the prosecution of the architects and perpetrators of war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity — and that the culture of impunity enjoyed by the Israeli regime must end.

He also rejected the claims made by the U.S. representative at the UN Security Council, emphasizing that the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran are based on the UN Charter. He described the illegal U.S. military presence and Washington’s unconditional support for the Zionist regime as the main causes of instability in the region. He added that by obstructing the implementation of the Security Council’s mandates, Washington is complicit in the crimes of the Israeli regime.

At the conclusion of his remarks at Thursday’s UN Security Council session, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations presented a disturbing picture of the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the role of the Zionist regime in threatening global peace. He also called for urgent action by the international community to put an end to this disastrous situation.
