Pars Today — Iran’s deputy foreign minister for political affairs rejected U.S. claims regarding enriched uranium and contacts with the White House, emphasizing that Iran will defend its people and sovereignty.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, said in an interview with MSNBC that:
“Our message to those who are listening is that we will defend ourselves. We are working hard to protect our people. This war was imposed on us, and we have the right to defend ourselves. We did not choose this aggressive war. This war was chosen by the government of the United States and the Israel.”

He added that Iran would defend itself with full strength, noting that the adversaries had believed they could achieve their goals within a few days but were proven wrong.

Takht-Ravanchi stressed the protection of Iranian civilians who were injured in indiscriminate attacks on non-military targets. He added that even schoolchildren were targeted in the strikes by the United States and Israel, saying that about 170 schoolgirls were martyred as a result of these blind attacks. He also said that even medical staff and hospitals had been attacked.
