Pars Today – The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations emphasized that the Zionist regime remains a serious and constant threat to peace and security.
According to Pars Today, quoting IRNA, Amir Saeed Iravani said on Tuesday at a Security Council meeting: “The law‑breaking and terrorist Israeli regime continues to pose a serious and persistent threat to regional and international peace and security.”
Iravani, stating that Gaza remains destroyed and under siege while the Israeli regime continues to violate the ceasefire and impose severe restrictions on humanitarian access, noted: The expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank also continues—an issue that is a clear violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, further entrenching occupation and instability.
Iravani added that Iran supports any credible effort to end the suffering of the Palestinian people. He said Israel’s aggression is not limited to the occupied Palestinian territories. The regime continues to violate international law across the region through repeated destabilizing actions and aggressive acts on Syrian territory, the ongoing illegal occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights, and continuous violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Iravani stressed: “The Security Council must act decisively to compel Israel to fully comply with the ceasefire in Lebanon, immediately halt all attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, and withdraw all of its occupying forces.”
He also said that on February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which constitutes a clear violation of international law, including the prohibition on the use of force and the peremptory norm banning aggression.
Iravani added that the aggressors have committed serious violations of international humanitarian law and deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure. In one instance, he said, a girls’ school in Minab was destroyed, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 168 students.
He noted that as of 8 April, at least 3,375 civilians had been killed. More than 700 educational, health, and cultural institutions have been attacked. Vital industrial infrastructure has also been targeted.
The Iranian official stressed that the United States and the Israeli regime must accept full responsibility and be held accountable. Individual criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity must be pursued in accordance with international law.
Emphasizing that he firmly rejects the baseless accusations made against Iran, Iravani stated: “As an occupying and aggressor regime, the representative of Israel lacks any legal, moral, or political standing to lecture or level accusations against member states.”
