Pars Today – The cultural attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in China said that Persian language chairs in China serve as bridges for deepening cultural relations and enhancing mutual understanding between the two nations.

According to Pars Today citing IRNA, Nematollah Iranzadeh, cultural attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran and representative of the Saadi Foundation in China, said in an interview that the Persian language, as one of the most prominent cultural and civilizational languages in Asia, has played a significant role over centuries in transferring knowledge, literature, and thought among nations.

He added that Iran’s cultural influence in the East—particularly in China—has deep historical roots that have continued from ancient times to the present day.

Nematollah Iranzadeh emphasized that the first Persian language chairs were established at major Chinese universities, and that these chairs, alongside language instruction, have provided valuable opportunities for research in classical and modern Persian literature, Iranian history and civilization, Iranian philosophy and thought, as well as studies of historical and contemporary relations between Iran and China.

The cultural attaché of Iran in China stated that the development of Persian language chairs in China is not limited to academic dimensions, but also carries diplomatic and cultural significance.

Nematollah Iranzadeh said that currently more than 15 universities and academic centers in China have Persian language chairs or Iranian studies programs. These institutions, in addition to training Chinese students in Persian language and literature, have created opportunities for joint academic cooperation with universities and Iranology centers around the world.

He emphasized that the Persian language is not only a means of communication, but also a carrier of Iranian civilizational values such as poetry, wisdom, and mysticism. Understanding and engaging with it, he added, can contribute to enriching Chinese culture as well.
