Iran and Tajikistan agree to facilitate trade relations
Pars Today – Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies emphasized the development and facilitation of Tehran–Dushanbe trade relations during a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) ministerial summit in Kyrgyzstan.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, the meeting between Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, was held on Friday with the aim of making full use of available capacities and strengthening mutual economic ties.
The two sides stressed accelerating the implementation of previous memorandums of understanding and operationalizing existing agreements. Expanding bilateral trade, leveraging Iran’s broad capabilities in mineral resources and elements, mineral processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and further developing cooperation were also discussed.
Considering the importance of increasing trade volume, the industry ministers of Iran and Tajikistan agreed on the need to facilitate administrative processes in order to accelerate and streamline trade and industrial relations between Tehran and Dushanbe.
During the meeting, emphasis was also placed on making use of the potential of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a transformative platform for enhancing industrial convergence among member states. The two sides highlighted the importance of expert-level consultations and continuous follow-up on agreements in order to achieve tangible results in the future.
