Pezeshkian: Iran and Pakistan can meet their own needs

Pars Today- The Iranian president, stressing the extensive potential of Iran and Pakistan to expand bilateral cooperation, called for strengthening Tehran-Islamabad relations in the areas of trade, energy, tourism, investment, and cultural and scientific exchanges, saying that joint investment and facilitating economic cooperation can further deepen ties between the two countries.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Monday evening and, expressing satisfaction with the growing trend in Tehran-Islamabad relations, stressed the need to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in various areas, including trade, energy, tourism, investment, and cultural and scientific exchanges.

The Iranian president, referring to the significant increase in the level of relations between the two countries, said: “We are pleased that you are continuously following up on the process of bilateral cooperation, and we hope these interactions will continue more seriously in all areas.”

Pezeshkian also, referring to the growing interactions among Islamic countries, stressed: “We believe that US measures and pressure have paved the way for greater convergence and continued interaction among Islamic countries, and the numerous meetings and consultations between Iranian and Pakistani delegations are a clear example of this trend.”

Stressing the need to strengthen joint investments and increase interactions among various sectors of the two countries, he said: “We hope that by expanding joint investments, strengthening interactions and facilitating economic cooperation, we will see further deepening of relations between Iran and Pakistan.”

Referring to the extensive capacities of the two countries in various fields, Pezeshkian said: “Iran and Pakistan are powerful countries in the region and possess tremendous human potential and abundant resources. If we bring these capacities together and join hands, we can meet many of our needs by relying on our domestic and regional capabilities.”

At the meeting, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi also expressed satisfaction with meeting the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stressed the importance of upgrading relations between the two countries.

Referring to the development of Tehran-Islamabad relations, he said: “We believe that relations between Iran and Pakistan have never been at such a high level as they are today.”

The Pakistani interior minister added: “We are determined to further develop and enhance relations and cooperation between the two countries in all areas, including trade, economic affairs, tourism, political, cultural and scientific fields.”

Naqvi also provided a report on the latest state of Iran-Pakistan cooperation and interactions in various sectors and stressed the Pakistani government’s readiness to continue and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
