Iran, Greece stress close banking ties

Back in February, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras paid an official visit to Iran with a big economic delegation and signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Iranian officials.
Officials from Iran and Greece called for the expansion of trade and banking relations between the two countries, with the Greek side expressing enthusiasm for investment by Iranian companies in the South European nation.
According to Tasnim news agency, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Governor Valiollah Seif and Greek's Deputy Prime Minister Yannis Dragasakis held a meeting in Athens on Thursday to explore avenues for the expansion of bilateral economic ties.
Voicing his country’s eagerness to boost economic interaction with Iran, Dragasakis said the Greek banks are willing to expand ties with Iran.
He also voiced support for investment in Greece by the Iranian companies and for mutual cooperation.
For his part, the Iranian official highlighted the two countries’ potential for closer economic relations, and hailed the steps Tehran has taken to enhance relations with the European banks.
