Iran, Romania FMs sign documents of cooperation

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Romanian counterpart, Lazar Comanescu, have signed two documents of cooperation during a meeting in the Romanian capital of Bucharest.

According to Press TV, Zarif arrived in Bucharest on Tuesday night at the head of a 30-member business delegation on the first leg of a three-nation East European tour, which will later take him to Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The two top diplomats sat down for talks on Wednesday and signed the two agreements concerning bilateral political consultations as well as the potential removal of visa restrictions for Romania-bound Iranian diplomats.

The attendant business delegation comprises representative from banking, energy, transportation, medical, pharmaceutical, mine, auto parts, and agricultural machinery sectors.

Comanescu had traveled to Tehran in March, extending an invitation to Zarif to visit his country.

Next, the Foreign Minister is to meet with Romania’s president, prime minister and parliament speaker.

During his stay, Zarif is also scheduled to attend a number of events, including a business and financial gathering and a conference on extremism and terrorism.
