The Leader's top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati warned about new plots by the supporters and sponsors of the Daesh terrorist group, and said that the new wave of attempts to destabilize the Middle East is underway.

"They (US and other terrorists’ supporters) have been talking about plans for redrawing the map of the Middle East since a few years ago; their intention of creating a new Middle East was to disrupt borders and for doing that they needed to cause discord and weaken the resistance so that the Israeli regime would feel safe and secure; the plan was funded by Saudi Arabia and its mastermind was Israel,” Velayati explained.

He reiterated that the defeat of the Daesh will provoke the terrorists’ founders and sponsors to hatch new destabilizing plots in the Middle East.

Velayati is a senior advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

In relevant remarks last Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi warned Riyadh against keeping up its rhetorical blame game against Iran and its divisive policies in the region a day after the Saudi foreign minister once again targeted Iran with a flurry of baseless accusations.

Qassemi's remarks came after Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Jubeir said Thursday that the kingdom’s actions in the Middle East were a response to what he called “Iranian aggression.”
