Why Trump announced suspension of “Project Freedom”

Fact: U.S. President Donald Trump announced early Wednesday the suspension of the “Project Freedom” for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Main reason: The firm positions and warnings of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with Iran’s actions demonstrating its seriousness in controlling and supervising navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States’ failure to achieve its objectives in the so‑called “Project Freedom,” pushed Trump to temporarily suspend this initiative. 

Likelihood: Although Trump has been compelled to announce the temporary suspension of the Project Freedom, given Iran’s firm stance on protecting its rights in the Strait of Hormuz and maintaining control over this strategic waterway, this Washington project should be considered effectively finished.
