Beijing firmly opposes unilateral U.S. sanctions against Iran

Pars Today- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Beijing’s position toward Tehran remains unchanged, stressing that China firmly opposes unilateral and illegal sanctions that have no basis in international law.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing on Wednesday, in response to U.S. sanctions against countries that allow Iranian aircraft to land, that China’s position remains unchanged.

He added: “We firmly oppose unilateral and illegal sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council.”

The remarks came after the United States threatened to sanction countries that allow Iranian commercial flights to enter their territory starting Wednesday.

The Chinese diplomat said the previous day that Washington’s sanctions against Iran’s aviation industry were illegal, stressing that his country opposes the sanctions imposed on Iranian airlines.
