Iran–Pakistan discuss cooperation in rail and regional trade
Pars Today – The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad and Pakistan’s Minister of Railways, while supporting mutual initiatives to expand bilateral relations, discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the rail sector and regional trade.
According to Pars Today, quoting IRNA, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Pakistan’s Minister of Railways, met with Reza Amiri‑Moghaddam, Iran’s Ambassador, and exchanged views on rail connectivity between the two countries—especially the Taftan–Zahedan route and the ECO ITI (Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul) train.
During the meeting, measures for the repair and renovation of the Quetta–Taftan railway section in Pakistan were examined, and improving security and infrastructure was deemed essential for the continuation of rail operations. The Pakistani Minister of Railways said that Pakistan greatly values its longstanding historical, cultural, and mutually respectful relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He emphasized that Islamabad has always believed in dialogue and the peaceful resolution of issues and will continue to support diplomatic efforts.
The Iranian Ambassador also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive and positive role, describing the country’s efforts to help promote peace and stability in the region as commendable.
