US attempting to prevent expansion of Iran-China ties

Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezaei warned of Washington's plots and attempts to block Tehran and Beijing's efforts to further develop relations.

"Imposing restrictions on the expansion of China's ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran is the goal of the hegemonic system," Rezaei said in a meeting with Vice-Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of China, Li Jun, in Tehran on Tuesday.

"We hope that our Chinese friends will try to come over limitations so that we witness bright, developing and stable relations between the two countries," he said.

Jun, for his part, described Iran as an influential country in the region, and expressed hope that bilateral relations between Tehran and Beijing would further broaden in different fields.

In relevant remarks in September, The Leader's top aide for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati stressed that Iran and China seek to further expand and strengthen their strategic relations.
