Iran among main global hubs of transplantation
Pars Today- An official with the Iranian health ministry said that the Islamic Republic is pioneer on the field of organ transplantation.
According to the latest statistics, 1121 transplants were done in Iran in 2023. Pars Today reported that Seyyed Hashem Daryabari, head of the Control and Validation of Treatment Affairs of the Iranian Health Ministry, said, "Currently 28 centers of kidney transplantation, 13 centers of liver transplantation, 10 centers of heart transplantation, 3 centers of lung transplantation, 5 centers of pancreas transplantation, 1 center of small intestine transplantation and 22 centers of tissue and organ provision are active in Iran."
Daryabari made it clear, "Presently, there are 1100 hospitals and 165,000 hospital beds in Iran. Moreover, 60,000 specialists, 90,000 general practitioners and 33,000 medical centers are giving services to the people."
This health ministry official, explaining the comprehensive program for controlling cancer, said, "Presently, 20 medical centers in Iran are giving services to international patients, 56 percent of which are private and 44 percent are governmental centers."
He reiterated that various infertility treatment methods are conducted in Iran and this can be a positive point in the field of offering services to the health tourists.
Daryabari, emphasizing on exchanging of patients via legal sources from their country to Iran, added, "Last year, more than 1.8 million health tourists came to Iran to receive treatment services and were admitted by medical centers."
