Great failure of Israeli-American propaganda with Hezbollah's victory in municipal elections: examining reasons

Pars Today - A political analyst has said Hezbollah's victory in Lebanon's municipal and city council elections in south of the country showed that the party's popularity remains very high despite the enemies' malicious propaganda.

The fourth and final phase of Lebanon's municipal and local council elections in the Southern and Nabatieh governorates was held on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The "Development and Loyalty" electoral lists, affiliated with the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, achieved a decisive victory in the elections in southern Lebanon, taking the lead in various towns and villages, including Chaqra, Joya, Aitaroun, and Nabatieh.

According to Pars Today, quoting Al Alam, Lebanese analyst Nasser Nasser al-Din stated Hezbollah's victory in these elections showed that the party's popularity remains very high despite the propaganda waged against it.

He added that these elections also indicate the future composition of the Lebanese parliament, will influence the formation of the government and cabinet, and will strengthen the resistance option of Hezbollah and the Amal movement against Israel.

Nasser al-Din added: During the municipal elections in Lebanon, many embassies, including the US embassy, tried to take action against Hezbollah by supporting certain candidates and influencing the results in their favor. However, the ballot box results were contrary to the efforts of the anti-Hezbollah current.

He emphasized: When the pager operation was carried out against Hezbollah, and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and some senior Hezbollah commanders were assassinated, and then Israeli aggressions against Lebanon increased, many feelings were hurt. The election of Sheikh Naim Qassem as Hezbollah's Secretary-General showed that Hezbollah's readiness remains at its peak. This election demonstrated that Hezbollah is never dependent on individuals. Hezbollah quickly rebuilt itself and was able to respond to the Zionist regime's aggressions in southern Lebanon, showcasing its power.

This Lebanese expert clarified: The people of Lebanon, especially those in the south of the country, always emphasize that Americans are never trustworthy. This is despite the fact that the US invites the government and people of Lebanon to observe international law, yet it does nothing to prevent the aggressions of the Zionist regime. The recent aggressions showed that Israel is under the strong American support and is looking for a time and pretext to attack Lebanon. The Lebanese government must also appeal to international actors and the United Nations to prevent the continuation of the Zionist regime's aggressions in southern Lebanon.

He also attributed the coordination between Shias and Christians in the recent Lebanese elections to Hezbollah's successful actions in the past years. He added: When Hezbollah confronted extremists in Syria, it protected Christian villages from terrorist rebels. Similarly, there are Christian villages in Lebanon whose residents Hezbollah supported without interfering in their internal affairs. Seeing these actions, the Christian community strengthened its relations with Hezbollah, and there is great trust in Hezbollah forces among Lebanese Christians.

This political analyst added: Twenty-five years have passed since Hezbollah's victory over Israel in southern Lebanon. The year 2000 was the year of liberation for southern Lebanon, and after 18 years of occupation, the Zionist regime's army made a humiliating retreat under the blows of the resistance. In the 25 years since this liberation, the Zionist regime's army has launched extensive attacks against Hezbollah, but the Hezbollah resistance has consistently ambushed the occupiers, destroyed their tanks numerous times and inflicted heavy losses upon them. Hezbollah's victory in the elections and the commemoration of the great Eid of Resistance and the Liberation of Southern Lebanon are two significant occasions, and the people of Lebanon, especially those in the south, emphasized that they consistently support and follow the resistance to end the occupation.

According to him, Lebanese people will continue the resistance based on the words and slogans of Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. The weapon of resistance must always be present against the aggression of the Zionist regime, and Hezbollah's weapon will always stand alongside the Lebanese army.
