Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament
Pars Today – The Speaker of Lebanon’s Parliament criticized the recent remarks of the country’s president regarding the ceasefire.
According to Pars Today, Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, said on Tuesday during a meeting with several officials in Ain al-Tineh: “Everything is on hold, and until a ceasefire is achieved, no negotiations will take place.”
In response to questions from those present regarding the recent statement by Lebanon’s President, Joseph Aoun—who said attacks must stop before negotiations begin and who criticized Hezbollah despite ongoing Israeli aggression—Berri replied, in a sarcastic tone: “Ask him where the ceasefire is.”
On Tuesday, Joseph Aoun stated that the Lebanese government does not attach importance to any other statements and said that negotiating with Israel without national consensus should not be considered “treason.” He then posed the question, “Was the war based on national consensus?” trying to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the resistance.
