Pars Today – Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement condemned the US aggression against Iraq, saying that Saudi Arabia was expected not to fall into the trap of US and Israeli policies.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Hezbollah said in a statement that the recent US and Saudi aggression against Iraqi territory was an overt and dangerous attack on an official Iraqi institution with the participation of an Arab country. It added that the move could have very dangerous consequences for the entire region and would only serve US and Israeli plans aimed at destabilizing the region, creating divisions among Muslim nations, and dragging them into tensions, disputes, and conflicts.
Hezbollah added that, given the requirements of good neighborly relations and the historic and fraternal ties between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and their peoples, it would have been appropriate for Riyadh to address tensions and the crisis with the Iraqi government through dialogue and diplomatic channels, rather than falling into the trap of American-Zionist enemy policies and entering a quagmire of plans that seek nothing but regional destabilization and division among nations.
The statement said that the US action in shedding the blood of the Iraqi people once again revealed Washington’s hostile objectives and intentions toward Iraq and its people, as well as its continued efforts to prevent the country’s progress and weaken its national and regional role at this sensitive stage. It added that the move once again demonstrated that the United States continues to covet Iraq’s resources and wealth.
Hezbollah concluded by reaffirming its support for Iraq and its people, stating that the aggression requires an immediate, firm, and responsible Arab, Islamic, and international response to end US hostile policies, safeguard the sovereignty of states, and uphold international law.
