Austerity closed over 20% of French hospital beds during epidemic

France has been shocked by a report that found that 20% of all the nation’s hospital beds have closed since the start of the pandemic. That total number of closed beds is twice as many as in 2019, which also reveals that hospitals have been running at under-capacity for some time.
