Britain must pay reparations to Indian people/ Killing 100 million Indians in 40 years

Pars Today - Between 1880 and 1920, Britain's colonial policies in India resulted in more deaths than the total number of victims of famines in the Soviet Union, Maoist China, and North Korea combined.

According to research by Jason Hickel, a professor at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB), and Dylan Sullivan, a master's student in political economy at the University of Sydney, at least 100 million Indians were victims of British colonial policies between 1880 and 1920.

The history of British colonization can be traced back to the 16th century with the establishment of the East India Company in 1599. This company laid the foundations for British colonial rule over the fertile regions of South Asia, and from then on, all British colonial operations and hegemonic relations with South Asian nations were carried out through the East India Company.

Britain's deep influence and control over India, which lasted for three centuries after the establishment of the company, led to India being declared part of the British Empire, with Queen Victoria being crowned as the Empress of India and Britain. This period is considered the era of plundering the Indian people by Britain, which was carried out under the guise of economic relations, trade, and commerce, paving the way for political influence in the region.

According to research by Robert C. Allen, an economic historian, extreme poverty in India under British rule increased from 23% in 1810 to over 50% by the mid-20th century.

Indian workers' wages decreased sharply during this period, almost reaching zero by the 19th century, while the people of this country were suffering from famine.

According to official statistics, British colonialism in India was so widespread that the average life expectancy in the country decreased to 21.9 years.

Colonialism that still exists in the views of many British people in the country's system.

According to a YouGov survey, 32% of British people still actively take pride in their country's colonial history.

Stuart Laycock, in his book "All the Countries We Have Ever Invaded", which is the result of two years of work and research, says that out of 200 countries in the world, only 22 have not been attacked by Britain.

Attacks that Britain has not apologized for or paid reparations for to this day.

History cannot be changed, and the crimes of the British Empire cannot be erased; but reparations can help to compensate for the legacy of deprivation and inequality created by colonialism.

Just as South Africa paid reparations to individuals who were assassinated by the white minority government after Apartheid.

Germany has also recently agreed to pay reparations to Namibia for its crimes in the early 1900s.
