Italian diplomat: The US fails to understand world developments
Pars Today- Middle East Eye, quoting a European diplomat, wrote, "The United States has lost touch with the world realities and the American intelligence institutions have ridiculous arguments about global conditions."
Marco Carnelos, former Italian diplomat, the government's special representative for coordination of the Middle East Peace Process and the Italian Ambassador in Iraq, in an analysis published on Middle East Eye, writes, "The American intelligence community has recently published its annual assessment focusing on the world threats. This document has reflected the collective analyses and visions of the CIA, the National Security Agency, the FBI and other agencies.
Part of the US intelligence document reads, "During the next year, the United States will face a fragile and increasing global order which, due to the acceleration of strategic rivalry among big powers, more intensive and unpredictable transnational challenges and numerous regional clashes with broader consequences will occur." It, then, continues, "Ambitious, but anxious China, hostile Russia, some of the regional powers like Iran and stronger nongovernmental players will challenge the old rules of the international system and the American priority."
In this document, Iran, Russia and China are considered as evil countries to challenge the international system.
Such analysis is not surprising as it has been the US motto for long years. The problem is that it is not clear which regulations the report is pointing to: the customary international rights included in the UN Charter and its conventions or the world order led by the United States. The main problem is that there is no distinction for the American political establishment and its key Western allies. They are seriously in error.
This American mindset is the order based on the neoliberal ideology and plunged in double standards. The Gaza tragedy is the clearest and latest example of this mindset. This agenda can be summarized in an unofficial motto: "For my friends, everything; for my enemies, law."
The US should accept history
There is no surprise that the report of the US intelligence community accuses China, Russia and Iran alongside a number of nongovernmental players (including Hezbollah of Lebanon, Hamas in Palestine and Ansarullah in Yemen). Such a ridiculous approach, now, is not accepted by many so-called countries of the Southern World. It is rather challenged or at least faced with anger. Only a few countries in Europe and East Asia consider the US supremacy as a pre-requisite for the international system. The world order is changing from a unipolar configuration into a multipolar one. Throughout history, the empires have emerged and then disintegrated. It would be reasonable for the US policymakers to adapt themselves with these regulations of history. They are now in a dilemma to choose: either to accept the verdict of history as Britain has gradually accepted since 1945 or resist against it catastrophically.
The reference to Gaza crisis in this report gives a clearer view on the unreal viewpoints of US intelligence bodies. As it reads in part of this American document, "One should only look at Gaza crisis which was started by a very strong nongovernmental terrorist group inside Hamas. This move is being aggravated with Iran's ambition and the narration encouraged by China and Russia to undermine the US. This condition indicates how a regional crisis can have broad impacts and complicate international cooperation in other vital issues."
This part of the report clearly shows that the US intelligence community basically cannot see the conflict in Gaza accurately: a national liberation struggle that has been started by several decades of cruel and unpunished occupation of Palestinian territories; an occupation that has been facilitated with extensive delivery of arms by the US and creation of a political shield for Israel. Moreover, the US supportive role in the UN Security Council should be pointed, that if it had not existed, Israel would have been recognized as responsible for war crimes.
The real cause of undermining the US global status, are not the measures claimed by those governments, but Washington's double standard conducts including the US unflinching support for Israel's launching of bloodbath in Gaza. The Biden administration, after proposing of the ceasefire resolution in the UNSC, opposed it and tried to dwindle the meaning and effect of the resolution to the lowest possible level.
This document has been published while over 34 thousand people have been martyred so far in Gaza by the Zionist regime most of whom are women and children.
