Pars Today - The Zionist regime is pressuring the US Congress to dissuade South Africa from pursuing its lawsuit against the regime at the International Court of Justice.

The American publication Axios reported, citing a telegram from the Israeli Foreign Ministry, that the regime has been exerting pressure on the US Congress to convince it to persuade South Africa to drop its lawsuit against Tel Aviv at the International Court of Justice.

According to Pars Today quoting Mehr News Agency, the International Court of Justice in The Hague held a session on May 24, 2024, to hear South Africa's lawsuit against the Zionist regime regarding the opening of humanitarian corridors in Gaza, and issued a ruling obliging the regime to stop its military operations in Rafah and open land corridors to Gaza.

In this case, South Africa argued that the Zionist regime's actions in Gaza is genocide, as they aim to destroy a significant part of the Palestinian population living in Gaza.

According to Axios, Tel Aviv has asked its embassies and consulates in the United States to cooperate with federal lawmakers, judges, and Jewish organizations to pressure South Africa to change its policies towards Israel.

The confidential letter explained that Israel has warned judicial officials in a clear threat that continuing their current actions, such as supporting Hamas and promoting anti-Israeli actions in international courts, will come at a high cost to them.

The report adds that Tel Aviv is pressuring US Congress members to pressure South Africa to drop its legal proceedings at the International Court of Justice regarding the Gaza war.
