German intellectuals, people able to prevent absolute fall of human values in country?
Pars Today- While the fake Zionist regime is facing ever-increasing isolation in the world, because of genocide in Gaza, Berlin has taken unprecedented steps to strengthen ties with Tel Aviv.
Germany has increased its efforts to broaden ties with the child-killer Zionist regime during the recent years. These efforts are indicative of Berlin's indifference towards the heinous crimes of the regime and an affront to the world public opinion. According to Pars Today, quoting from Middle East Eye, these efforts and cooperation, include criminalizing any protest against Israel, financial support for Zionist lobbies and broad limitations imposed on freedom of expression under the title of "struggle against antisemitism".
Sister cities: symbol of solidarity or complicity in crime?
Berlin Parliament ratified the bill of sisterhood with Tal Aviv on March 2024 with a consensus of major parties (including Christian Democrat, Social Democrat, Green and even the rightist AFD party). This decision was made while the International Criminal Court (ICC) is working on the accusations of war crimes against Israeli officials.
Historical collapse or rewriting of narrative?
After WW II, Berlin came out of crisis with international aid (such as Berlin Air Bridge), but today, it is backing the siege on Gaza by Israel. This double standard brings questions to the mind about Germany's moral responsibility:
Why has Berlin chosen Tel Aviv as sister instead of Gaza?
- Increase of financial and political support for Zionist groups in Germany
Financial and political supports for Zionist groups in Germany have played a significant role in shaping the domestic and foreign policy of the country, including the government budget which contains 23 million Euros of annual aid for Zionist lobbies.
- Lawmaking
Ratification of resolutions such as "Never is just now" (November 2024) which considers criticism of Israel equal to antisemitism.
- Suppression of universities and pro-Palestine moves
The German government has suppressed any protest against genocide in Gaza through legal and security tools, including:
- cancellation of academic events with participation of independent UN experts (like Francesca Ablanese) under the pressure of Zionist lobbies
- Expulsion of pro-Palestine persons: Four European and American citizens were expelled in April 2024 due to taking part in a pro-Palestine demonstration.
- Securitizing of protests: Any demonstration in support for Palestine faces violent interference of riot police and broad detentions.
- Media censoring
The mainstream media in Germany, such as "Die Welt", participating in Israeli propaganda, have fomented defamation campaigns.
Berlin; from symbol of freedom to capital of suppression
As a matter of fact, Berlin has turned into an instrument for suppression of human rights while it used to be a haven for intellectuals and artists. This trend portends a bleak and dark future for democracy in Germany.
Berlin's solidarity with Tel Aviv is not only a sign of diplomatic link but also redefinition of democratic values in Germany on the axis of the interests of global Zionism. The continuation of suppression has seriously threatened freedom of expression and independence of universities. Now the key question is: Will the intellectuals and people be able to prevent the complete collapse of human and democratic values in Germany?
