Pars Today – Ayat Sharifi, Iran’s national super-heavyweight weightlifter, claimed the title of the strongest man in Asia by winning two gold medals and one silver at the Asian Weightlifting Championships.

The 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships concluded on Thursday with the super-heavyweight category competitions in Jiangshan, China. In this category, Ayat Sharifi, representing Iran, won silver in the snatch, and gold in the clean and jerk as well as gold in the total, earning him the title of the strongest man in Asia.

Iran had three representatives in this edition of the Championships. Earlier, Ali Alipour won two gold medals and one silver in the 96kg category, while Alireza Moeini secured gold in the snatch and bronze in the total. Iran finished the competition with a total of five gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, placing second in the overall medal standings. China took first place./ IRNA
