Is U.S. endangering world by ignoring climate change?
Pars Today – During Donald Trump’s second term as U.S. president, the administration has, in effect, declared war on the very concept of climate change by repealing environmental regulations and weakening climate action policies.
In this period, the U.S. government has taken a series of controversial measures that directly conflict with climate science and have derailed efforts to address the global climate crisis. According to Pars Today, citing CNN, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently stated that greenhouse gases are not a threat to human health—a move that, if implemented, would strip the legal basis for many environmental protections.
At the same time, the Trump administration is ending tax incentives for electric vehicles that had been expanded under President Biden. Support for renewable energy projects is also winding down, contributing to rising electricity costs in some regions.
The government is seeking to remove emissions limits on power plants and revive the coal industry. On the state level, new Republican-led legislation will prohibit states like California from banning gasoline-powered car sales starting in 2035. Trump also intends to abolish national emissions standards and challenge states’ authority to set their own limits.
CNN reports that authors of previous federal climate assessments have been dismissed, and crucial documents such as the National Climate Assessment have been removed from public access. The U.S. has also announced it will not attend a major climate summit in Brazil later this year.
All of this is happening despite urgent warnings from scientists and international bodies that climate change is accelerating—and its consequences are becoming increasingly visible across the globe.
