Shocking UN report: Genocide in Gaza still continuing

Pars Today – United Nations reports genocide of Palestinians in Gaza continues.
According to Pars Today, in the latest report by Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has been described as a “clear genocide.” She emphasized that Israel, disregarding ceasefire agreements, continues to kill, displace, and starve the Palestinian people. The report addresses not only the military dimension of the attacks but also sexual violence, the destruction of medical facilities, and the imprisonment of thousands of Palestinians.
Albanese stated that over 200 Palestinians were killed after the ceasefire was announced, highlighting Israel’s disregard for international agreements. She also held countries that support Israel complicit in this genocide and called for accountability regarding the provision of weapons and political support for the Israeli regime.
The report also points to the deliberate destruction of medical facilities and hospitals. For instance, a direct attack on the maternity ward of Al-Basma Hospital resulted in the deaths of thousands of Palestinian fetuses, an act interpreted by international observers as an attempt to prevent the continuation of the Palestinian population.
In addition, over 10,000 Palestinians remain imprisoned in Israeli jails, while Israeli prisoners have returned home. This clear disparity in treatment is part of the apartheid system the UN has called to end. Albanese also noted that Israel uses sexual violence as a tool to intimidate and torture Palestinians.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has reiterated the urgent need to adhere to the ceasefire and establish a political path to end the occupation and realize the Palestinian right to self-determination. In response to repeated ceasefire violations by Israel in Gaza, Guterres expressed deep concern and emphasized the importance of rebuilding the education system and restoring vital services in the region.
The UN’s serious warning about the ongoing genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli military, alongside continued attacks on the devastated Gaza Strip, underscores the criminal nature of these actions. Even after a ceasefire, Israel continues to kill innocent civilians.
Despite these warnings, the international response remains weak and insufficient. Israel’s continued attacks in Gaza would not be possible without U.S. backing. Notably, former U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged this in remarks dismissing Israel’s attacks on Gaza as a violation of the ceasefire. Trump claimed that these attacks did not breach the fragile truce and stated that “Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas.” He insisted that “nothing will endanger the ceasefire in Gaza.”
This raises the question: according to Trump, what action by Israel would constitute a ceasefire violation? From his perspective, any defensive action by Hamas in response to Israeli attacks would be considered a breach. This stance demonstrates Trump’s unwillingness to pressure Israel to halt attacks, as he views Israeli actions as a legitimate security response.
Reports also indicate that Trump initially provided assurances for Israel’s adherence to the ceasefire during early negotiations, but no effective measures were taken after Israel violated the agreement. This approach reflects the traditional U.S. policy of supporting Israel, prioritizing strategic interests over impartial enforcement of ceasefire obligations. Consequently, Trump’s inaction in response to ceasefire violations stems not from incapacity but from political and security alignment with Israel.
