Pars Today - In an official meeting in Islamabad, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Iran's Majlis (parliament) emphasized strengthening regional cooperation, combating terrorism, and working together toward Islamic unity and global peace.

Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, hosted Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, along with the Iranian delegation in Islamabad on Friday. According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing comprehensive cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that Tehran and Islamabad play a vital role in promoting global peace and Islamic unity.

The meeting was attended by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly; Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs; and Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad.

Welcoming the Iranian delegation, Sharif conveyed warm regards and respect to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Masoud Barzani of Iran. He affirmed that Pakistan and Iran, as brotherly Muslim nations, share a strong commitment to global peace and unity within the Muslim Ummah.

Highlighting the importance of close and fraternal relations between the two countries, Sharif stated that both nations are committed to using peaceful dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes worldwide.

Sharif added that Iran and Pakistan condemn state-sponsored terrorism and have consistently supported one another against unilateral aggression toward independent countries.

He noted that both nations have unfortunately been victims of terrorism and are therefore firmly committed to contributing to global peace, regional prosperity, and constructive cooperation.

Sharif emphasized that Iran and Pakistan are determined to collaborate for the unity of the Islamic Ummah. He also expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to expand cooperation with Iran in areas of shared interest, including economic development and trade.

The Prime Minister’s office reported that Speaker Qalibaf also expressed appreciation to Pakistan’s government and people for their timely and valuable support of Iran against Israeli aggression.

Qalibaf remarked that Pakistan’s support during the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime was deeply valued by the Iranian people. He further stated that Iran and Pakistan firmly believe in the unity of the Islamic Ummah and the message of global peace.

Following the meeting, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament traveled to Karachi, Pakistan’s economic hub.
