Pars Today – Over the past eight months, Iran’s non-oil trade has exceeded $76.5 billion, showing a weight-based increase of more than 1.5 percent.

According to Iran Customs statistics, in the first eight months of this year (1404 SH), the volume of Iran’s foreign trade reached 131,054,000 tons of various goods, valued at $76.537 billion. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 1.53 percent increase in terms of weight. During this period, 105,231,000 tons of goods worth $36.997 billion were exported to various countries, marking a 1.17 percent increase in weight compared to the same period last year.

Water crisis in Europe

In other news, satellite data from researchers at University College London (UCL) from 2002 to 2024 indicate that Europe’s strategic freshwater reserves are declining at an alarming rate. Large areas of southern and eastern Europe, including Spain, Italy, and France, are facing increasing dryness.

The European Union has developed a "Water Resilience Strategy" aiming to improve water-use efficiency by 10 percent by 2030. Given that Europe’s water networks experience leakage rates of 8 to 57 percent, the strategy emphasizes the urgent need to modernize infrastructure.

Overall, these developments indicate that countries face diverse challenges in managing their natural resources. While Iran is using its commercial capacities, Europe must address the water crisis as a strategic priority. Optimizing resource management in both regions requires long-term planning and investment in infrastructure.
