Pars Today – Younes Ranjkesh, Director General for Investment and Employment Affairs Coordination at the Gilan Provincial Governor’s Office in northern Iran, has announced that the province will host the first Iran-Russia Trade Development Summit.
According to Pars Today, Ranjkesh made the announcement on Sunday evening after a meeting of the Agriculture Commission of the Gilan Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture. He said the summit, focusing on Gilan and Astrakhan provinces, will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at the Anzali Free Zone, with the participation of provincial and national officials and guests.
He said the summit aims to examine opportunities, advantages, problems and challenges in trade between Iran and Russia, particularly between Gilan and Astrakhan as gateways for trade between the two countries. The issues will be discussed through specialized panels.
Ranjkesh added that Gilan and Astrakhan have a 500-year history of trade relations, and holding such summits plays an important role in identifying opportunities and challenges for attracting investment and expanding trade.
Referring to Gilan’s role in trade with Russia and the countries around the Caspian Sea, he said that despite the province’s many advantages, a significant part of its potential has yet to be utilized.
Astrakhan is one of Russia’s important commercial regions due to its access to air, rail and maritime routes. In addition to tourists, it is also a destination for businesspeople and traders from various countries.
