Pars Today – The Canadian prime minister stated that Ottawa will not back down in trade negotiations with the United States.

According to Pars Today, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, rejecting reports that Canada is giving in to the U.S. in trade talks, told reporters: We will not retreat in these negotiations, and we do not take orders from the United States.

Carney stated that the U.S. tariffs—50 percent on Canadian steel and aluminum, 25 percent on automobiles, and all tariffs on forestry products—are troubling and a violation of the rules.

He expressed readiness to hold talks with the United States to resolve “certain trade issues” and added that some trade matters “are under review.”
