20,000 Canadians evacuated as massive wildfires rage

Pars Today – Wildfires around Lake Okanagan in western Canada have forced more than 20,000 people to flee their homes.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, British Columbia declared a state of emergency as wildfires rapidly spread across western Canada.

British Columbia Premier David Eby declared the emergency as more than 100 wildfires were burning across the province, with nearly half considered out of control due to hot weather, strong winds, and prolonged drought.

Meanwhile, Canadian authorities ordered the overnight evacuation of the entire city of Summerland, which has a population of around 12,000, as well as approximately 8,000 people in and around Peachland.

Authorities have not yet determined how many homes have been destroyed.

Eby said some local residents had become trapped by the fires and had to be rescued by emergency crews.

Canada has experienced devastating wildfires in recent years, resulting in large-scale evacuations and repeatedly sending smoke across large parts of Canada and the United States.
