Chinese message to NATO: do not bring instability to Asia-Pacific/ Libyan tragedy is alive
Pars Today- The Chinese foreign ministry accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of fearmongering in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Chinese foreign ministry, accusing NATO of trying to spread fear in the Asia-Pacific region, warned the coalition against transferring instability to the region. According to Pars Today, Lin Jian, Spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on Thursday, condemning the statement of NATO summit in Washington about the Asia-Pacific region, said, "This statement is the outcome of the Cold War mentality and full of hostile rhetoric."
Jian asked NATO to give up the Cold War mentality and the confronting approach, to have a correct image of China, to stop meddling in the internal affairs of China, to make allegations against China and disturb Chinese relations with Europe.
He then accused NATO of creating instability in Europe and added, "China decisively defends its sovereignty, security and the right to enjoy development."
Lin Jian stressed, "The tragedies of Afghanistan and Libya show that wherever NATO is present riot and chaos are created there."
The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, too, called the NATO leaders' allegations against his country as "baseless' and said, "This military organization should not interfere in the internal affairs of China."
The NATO leaders, in their recent summit in Washington, called China a determining factor in the Ukraine conflict and a systematic challenge for the relations of the two sides of the Atlantic. These stances have faced with harsh protest of Beijing.
Recently, the Deputy Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of "Chinese Central Military Commission", calling the US as the greatest challenge for the regional security and stability, reiterated, "Washington seeks to create a version of NATO in the Asia-Pacific to preserve its hegemony in the region."
