US State Department makes baseless claims against Iran (2)
The US administration studies the state of human rights in different countries, every year, upon publication of a report. Meanwhile, a glance at the cases of violation of human rights in the US depicts a clear picture of the appalling state of human rights in that country. These reports prove that murder, crime, and violation of the civil rights of minorities have mounted at an alarming rate in that country.
A body of research which has been carried out on the state of human rights and the US commitment to human rights rules and regulations in the world, proves beyond doubt that in the past six decades, and after the approval of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the US has not taken any tangible measure to advance true values such as human rights across the globe and has in fact systematically breached human rights in and out of US.
Establishment of concealed dungeons in Europe and Asia; flagrant violation of the rights of Muslims, and religious and racial minorities, as well as immigrants in the aftermath of 9/11; adoption of meddlesome policies in the internal affairs of other countries; support for the establishment and operation of terrorist outfits, such as Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and their usage as a pretext for staging incursions against independent countries and violation of the rights of their people, can be named as prime examples of violation of human rights by the US administration. Now, we want to pay a glance at the state of jails which the US has established worldwide under the banner of protection of human rights and security, and campaign against terrorism.
The incidents that occurred in each of these prisons disgraced the US statesmen, who claim to champion human rights.
Although wide-scale censorship obstructs the full coverage of US crimes in this realm; a number of reports have been published by independent organizations, which partly disclose US measures against human rights.
These reports show that the appalling state of prisons in the US and American prisons in other parts of the world are the prime examples of violation of human rights by the US.
Bagram Prison, which is popularly known as Afghanistan’s Guantanamo, is one of the horrific dungeons, in which the US has violated human rights on several occasions.
The studies which have been conducted by the Human Rights Watch on the torture of inmates by American interrogators at Bagram Prison, shows at least six hundred Americans have been involved in mistreatment or killing death of Afghan prisoners. According to international media, throughout the recent years, American interrogators at US prisons in Afghanistan have made use of different means of torture to get confessions from Afghan inmates, causing the death of several Afghan prisoners. Some of these inmates have also committed suicide. In fact, these Afghan inmates have been killed without the notification of their charges. The Afghan prisoners who were handed over to American forces had no access to any Afghan judicial organization and were not tried fairly.
The bouts of violence sparked by the American forces against Afghan inmates prompted the Afghan government to urge US troops to hand over the administration of Bagram Prison to Afghan officials.
The horrifying acts of torture by the American troopers in Afghanistan are a reminder of the shameful conduct of US forces amid Afghan war.
The unethical conduct of the so-called civilized American troops breach all international rules and regulations.
A prime example of the ruthless crimes committed by US troops are evident in the confession of an American sergeant, Kelvin Gibbs, who murdered three Afghan civilians and cut and collected the fingers of the victims. A number of other American troopers have also admitted to the collection of fingers of Afghan people, and brutal massacre of Afghan children with the use of grenades.
The documented evidences throughout these crimes show the US troops competing with each other over how to murder an Afghan child. These US forces call on the Afghan child to approach them and concurrently hurl a grenade at him, while one of the US troopers fires six bullets at the Afghan boy.
Last October, the US, in a horrendous crime, bombarded a hospital in Afghanistan, which was administered by Doctors without Borders. In this tragic incident, 42 people lost their lives. Late November, the US alleged that this incident had occurred due to human error. However, Doctors without Borders noted that in bombardment of this hospital, the US forces have committed a war crime, while urging a probe into this dastardly attack. Meanwhile, the US officials ultimately announced that the perpetrators of this attack will be disciplined and no other punishment is considered for the related perpetrators.
Such crimes against humanity have been staged on countless occasions by the US forces in their war against Iraq and Afghanistan, and/or under the pretext of campaign against terrorism in Pakistan, and will also be repeated by the US troopers in the future.
Abu Ghraib is one of the most dreaded US-run dungeons, in which many crimes against humanity have taken place. The reprehensible and despicable crimes of the US forces and large-scale breach of human rights at Abu Ghraib Prison were so frightening that led global media to publish reports on the abominable crimes committed by the US troops.
The UN Human Rights Anti-Torture Committee has released a report, expressing concern and strongly condemning the flagrant violation of human rights by the US.
This report slams the conduct of US security firms overseas; practice of torture at US-run prisons overseas; questionable interrogation techniques of the CIA and FBI agents; solitary confinement of inmates at US-run jails; brutality of American police officers; and the bouts of violence stirred by the US forces.
