Washington’s avowed hostility towards the Islamic Revolution
Today on the 5th day of the Ten-Day Dawn marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, we present you a special feature titled: “Washington’s avowed hostility towards the Islamic Revolution”.
As Islamic Iran enters its 40th glorious year, after weathering some of the most violent storms during which global equations have changed and even many of the opponents have realized the fact that the Islamic movement generated by Imam Khomeini is here in order to stay to change the destiny of the region and the world, one thing has remained unchanged; that is the intransigence of the US and its blind hostility towards the facts and realities of the Islamic Revolution. In order to understand the cause of the 40-year US hostility to the Islamic Republic of Iran, we need to pay attention to Iran's prime position in the strategic West-Central-South Asian region, and its close proximity to Southeast Europe and North Africa. In view of this fact, first Britain and then the United States of America, had tightened their tentacles on Iran by installing and supporting a puppet regime and using Iran as a ring linking the military chain of NATO, CENTO and SEATO, encircling the communist giants, the Soviet Union and China. After deceiving Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq and overthrowing his government through the 1953 coup, the US made sure that Iran remains as a client state, whose natural resources can be easily plundered by destroying its culture and keeping the Iranian people in an atmosphere of terror through the brutalities of the Israeli-trained SAVAK. That is the reason in the early 1960s, the US imposed the capitulation accord on Iran that granted immunity from prosecution to US citizens and military forces, even if they were to commit crimes. There were almost 50,000 US occupation soldiers in Iran when the Islamic Revolution triumphed and kicked out the Americans from the Iranian soil.
Iran was acting as the US gendarme in the Persian Gulf, as part of the so-called two-pillar doctrine of President Richard Nixon – the other pillar being the British created entity called Saudi Arabia. Of the two, Iran was most important because of its sharing of borders with the Soviet Union. Following the 1973 oil embargo and the rise of revenues in Iran, Iran became the largest buyer of American weapons, which meant its oil wealth was recycled back to the US, which provided Tehran with F-14 fighters. The US called Iran the island of stability. The victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, however, changed all equations. Iran, liberated from the tentacles of the British-installed monarchy and free of American hegemony, now became a thorn in the eyes of Washington. The US now resorted to every imaginable plot to overthrow the Islamic Republic system of government by calling it all names and accusing it of destabilizing the region. The US perceived the Islamic Republic of Iran as a permanent threat to its vested interests. Imam Khomeini, whose foresight pierced the future, had warned Iranians of the dangers from the US, whom it called the Great Satan. He said that as long as Iran adheres to Islam, the US will be its enemy. The present Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has said in this regard: “Today the enmity of the arrogance camp with Islamic Iran is because of Islam. They are enemies of Islam, and since Iran adheres to genuine Islam, Washington will never drop its enmity towards the Iranian people.”
The famous American writer, Noam Chomsky had said that as long as Iran remains independent and does not surrender to US hegemony, Washington will continue its hostility and enmity.
Former US Assistant Secretary of State, Martin Indyk had said about Iran’s independence stance: The Islamic Revolution should be severely punished in order to make its punishment as a lesson for any country trying to become independent of the US.
By the Grace of God Almighty all US plots have ended in failure including its sanctions and the 8-year war Washington had imposed on the Islamic Republic through its agent, Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad. In the face of adversities, the Islamic Revolution has continued its path towards progress by mastering science and technology and turning into a model for other countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei has said in this regard: the enmity of the US and other arrogant powers towards the Islamic system is due to the flag of justice that Iran has unfurled. The dynamic teachings of Islam are the inspiration for the progress of Iran in all fields, and this has angered the US. The influence of the Islamic Revolution on liberation movements in the region and beyond, and their success against US-sponsored terrorists has made Washington mad with anger.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved astounding success in various fields to the extent that no country can ignore the role of Iran in providing security and stability to the region. This has increased US hostility towards Iran. As US vice-president Mike Pence, said during his recent visit to occupied Palestine, if the Iranian people want to be friends with the US, this is only possible after the Islamic Republic is overthrown.
This means the US officials, having become frustrated of their plots to undermine Iran are now trying in vain to deceive the Iranian people by pretending friendship in order to mislead them.
But as Imam Khomeini had said: The US cannot do a damn thing against Iran. It cannot take any measures against the firmness of the Islamic Revolution and the strong faith of the Iranian people.
True to the words of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, as we see today, the US has become isolated and it is the foolish new president in the White House who is pushing Washington toward its doom.
