Iranians have taken to the streets to mark the anniversary of 2009 historic rallies, during which people renewed their allegiance to the Islamic establishment and put an end to foreign-orchestrated riots.

The presidential elections were held in 2009 in Iran just like the previous ones. But what astounded every onlooker was the 85% plus turnover of the people in the event making it the second in the rank of the elections after the victory of the Islamic Revolution; the first being the referendum of the Islamic Republic system. The 10th round of presidential election highly manifested the model of people's religious rule. This dazzling triumph of people's religious rule was not tolerable for the enemies of the Iranian nation. Thus, they tried to put into effect the plot that they had already schemed in their think tanks in Washington, London and Tel Aviv through their mercenaries inside the country. Casting doubt on the massive turnover of people in the election was one of the objectives which had been designed in the form of street chaos.

Mahdi Fazaeli, a political analyst says, "One of the reasons of complexity of the 2009 sedition was that the anti-revolution current recruited its entire capacity in the field. That capacity was not brought to the field just for the election but their main goal was to overthrow the establishment."

In fact, the US goal of igniting the sedition in 2009 was based on to kill two birds with one shot.

The designers of the sedition had targeted the authenticity and health of the election on one hand; while they were indulged in the daydreaming of soft overthrow of the Islamic system on the other hand. That's why they put on their agenda to arouse the public by enticing them to pour to the streets in the form of velvet or colour revolutions in other countries. The documents and evidence gathered from the ringleaders and elements of the sedition proved that the chaos on streets and vandalism were all directed from abroad especially the US through their hired minions inside the country.

Political observer, Sa'adollah Zarei, refers to the role of media and meddling of a few American and European officials in support for the directors of the sedition, saying, "These currents, just as they collaborated with the enemy during the 8-year imposed war and had turned into the units of the Iraqi forces, they were active in the 2009 sedition."

What is quite clear is that the 2009 sedition in Iran took shape on the ground of improper attitude of the two candidates who lost the election but were not ready to accept the result of the election due to their hunger for power. This further encouraged the opportunists and their backers in the west to kick up riot in the country which culminated in insulting the values and symbols of religion, particularly Imam Hussein (AS).

Then American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, refers to those tough times in her recently published book, "Hard Choices". She writes that the Obama administration, during the years after the chaos in 2009 in Iran, spent scores of millions of dollars to train more than 5000 opponents of Iran throughout the world.

The sedition current which was directed from Washington, London and Tel Aviv caused unrest in a number of cities and towns and inflicted ample material and spiritual damages to the system and made the avowed enemies hopeful of reviving their dominance over the country.

But on 9th of the Iranian month of Dey (December 30, 2009), the Iranian nation from every strata and with every political view, even those who had voted to the losing candidates, poured to the streets of all cities, especially Tehran which was witness to the huge demonstration of over 5 million people although the day was not a holiday or weekend. According to Ayatollah Khamenei, the people conquered one of the unforgettable summits and broke the obfuscated climate with their insight and recognition of time; and with reliance and faith in the divine will created an indelible day in the history of the Islamic Revolution.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, pointing to the ceaseless efforts of the US to cast doubt and destroy the hope and self-confidence of the nation, stressed, "The 9th of Dey, with such a greatness, was the nations' answer to such games and was in defence of the values of the Revolution and religion."

The Iranian people, with their conscious and insightful presence in the million-strong demonstration of the 9th of Dey, manifested their cognizance of the enemy at the highest level.

As the Leader reiterated, "The ample expenses and intricate plots of the US to ignite political, sectarian, ethnic and lingual differences in Iran are futile and failed and the growth and progress of Iran will definitely continue even in the administration of the current American president. It will be a daydream for them [the enemies] to see that the Islamic Republic has exited the field and become weak."

The spontaneous massive turnout of the people across the country on December 30, 2009 was another proof of the principle of people's status and role as the important pillar of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic system.

Seyyed Abdullah Motawallian, a researcher of political affairs, believes that the perseverance of the Iranian nation against war, terror and economic sanctions made the United States to alter its pattern of toppling in Iran. This led to designing the project of soft overthrow. This researcher maintains that the project of soft overthrow was the outcome of field investigations of a skilled team comprising Patrick Clawson, Francis Fukuyama, Samuel Huntington and others. This project known as the doctrine of soft war focuses on infiltration and obstructionism in all domains of politics, security, economy, culture and society.

Conspiracies for overthrowing ruling systems have always been orchestrated from Washington and London and implemented by their hired agents inside the countries. Some analysts call this as hybrid wars. In these wars, the United States, with the usage of media and propaganda apparatus and the power of broad politico-economic influence plays a complicated role in the target countries. The colour revolutions in Europe and forging of crises in West Asia are examples of the US hybrid wars.

Political analysts, Andrew Korybko, in his book HYBRID WARS: THE INDIRECT ADAPTIVE APPROACH TO REGIME CHANGE. writes that the United States after the costly catastrophe of Iraq war and occupation of the country in 2003 onwards, increased its dependence on hybrid war; because it had learnt this unforgettable lesson from the Iraq war that how much important is to externalize wars and cede them to its regional allies. In other words, the US decided to distance from large-scale conventional war and approach proxy wars. These wars are, by nature, asymmetric and domestic/civil which the military and security services usually are not ready to counter them. These wars are often less costly both in terms of money and casualties. Former American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, confessing her government's role in the 2009 sedition in Iran, said to CNN that the United States had a very important role in what shew called "Green Revolution" in Iran. A few weeks after the chaos in Iran, former assistant secretary of the US Treasury, Paul Craig Roberts, in an interview with the American Magazine Foreign Policy, referred to Washington's role in directing the riots after the election in favour of the losing candidate. He pointed to the assistance of National Endowment for Democracy to the seditionists.

The Iranian people have always relied on God and obeyed their leader with insight. That's why they have always defeated their enemies.
