Let's know Islam (167)
Today, we study the topic of belief in the savior of mankind, in accordance with the Islamic and Quranic perspective.
As it was mentioned last week, mankind has long aspired for a prosperous life. He has called for a community that would bring about peace, calm, justice, progress, and prosperity for him.
We also pointed out that different religions believe when mankind goes on a downward spiral, and corruption becomes widespread, a savior of mankind emerges, reforming the inappropriate global conditions. Divine religions herald a bright and promising future for human history and civilization, noting that the global circumstances will change in favor of the oppressed.
Whenever one speaks of utopia within the realm of Islamic ideology, hopes are set for a bright and promising future, coupled with social justice. In the divine religion of Islam, the principle of belief in the savior of mankind is not rooted in the thoughts and views of philosophers and thinkers, and in fact it is originated from, and is supported by the ayahs of Holy Quran, hadiths, and religious texts. The Islamic sources have ushered in the emergence of a prominent figure from the Prophet of Islam's Infallible Household who will establish the global rule of justice, and will uproot injustices. Muslim thinkers believe that the history of mankind, despite its ups and downs, maintains a bright future, and upon the reappearance of the 12th Infallible Imam of the Prophet of Islam's Household, Imam Mahdi (May God hasten his reappearance), the global rule of justice will be established. Expectation of arrival of the savior of mankind leaves a huge influence on the views of believers and motivates them to steadfast against global injustices.
In the Quranic culture, history goes on based on divine rules and traditions and even if the world seems to be in favor of the unjust, this is just a temporary trend. Ultimately, righteousness will prevail falsehood and the merited servitudes of God will rule the world. At that point, justice will be served, and security will be established across the globe.
According to ayahs of Holy Quran, the world will be ultimately governed by the faithful and merited servitudes of God; who will pioneer the human civilization.
Several ayahs of Holy Quran refer to reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AS). Ayahs of Holy Quran also point out that the divine religion of Islam will prevail over all religions.
The 33rd ayah of Surat al-Tawbah in Holy Quran notes: "It is He who sent His Apostle with the guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it prevail over all religions, though the polytheists should be averse."
This ayah pinpoints that finally the sacred religion of Islam will be spread across the entire planet and will globally emerge victorious. The plan for the spread of Islam across the entire world reaches its ultimate peak when Imam Mahdi reappears and hoists the flag of Islam across the entire universe.
Holy Quran points out that the empowerment of the servitudes of God has also been mentioned in other heavenly books. For instance, the 105th ayah of Surat al-Anbiya notes: Certainly We wrote in the Psalms, after the Torah: 'Indeed My righteous servants shall inherit the earth.'
This ayah heralds that the merited servitudes of God will inherit the earth, and the planet and all continents will be administered by servants of God.
In a number of other ayahs of Holy Quran, similar pledges have been made. For instance, the 5th ayah of Surat al-Qasas notes: "And We desired to show favor to those who were abased in the land, and to make them imams, and to make them the heirs."
Based on several narrations, this ayah refers to Imam Mahdi's global rule of justice.
In another ayah of Holy Quran, God has vowed the rule of servitudes of God. For instance, the 55th ayah of Surat al-Nur notes: "Allah has promised those of you who have faith and do righteous deeds that He will surely make them successors in the earth, just as He made those who were before them successors, and He will surely establish for them their religion in which He has approved for them, and that He will surely change their state to security after fear, while they worship Me, not ascribing any partners to Me. And whoever is ungrateful after that – it is they who are the transgressors."
This ayah clearly points out that the faithful will ultimately rule the world. The ayah also notes that the divine religion of Islam will be spread across the entire world and the state of fear will change into the state of security. As a result, everyone will freely worship God and fulfill His instructions, and will not ascribe any partner for God.
This divine pledge was partly materialized during the era of Prophet of Islam, Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny) and thereafter. As a result, Islam, in addition to spreading across the Arabian Peninsula, was spread to many regions of the world. This ayah undoubtedly refers to the global rule of justice of Imam Mahdi (AS), who will wipe out insecurity, fear, and war on earth.
Based on this ayah, one of the main features of Imam Mahdi's global rule is the establishment of security. The contemporary mankind suffers from the absence of peace and security. In other words, true security and peace will only materialize under the global rule of the savior of mankind, Imam Mahdi (May God hasten his reappearance).
When Imam Mahdi stages an uprising, global justice and freedom will prevail. He is modest toward the grandeur of God. Imam Mahdi (AS) maintains countless ethical virtues, and seeks the administration of justice. He will reveal righteousness to all and will brighten the world with his guidance.
