Pars Today – The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, regarding some media speculations about a plan to assassinate Iranian officials, said: "Such threats stem from criminal mindsets."

According to Pars Today, Amir Saeed Iravani, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN, stated in his letter to the Secretary-General of the organization and the President of the Security Council: "Reports indicate that the United States of America and the Israeli regime have identified and designated high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, and Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, as assassination targets."

Iravani clarified: "These reports indicate the existence of an operational framework that considers the assassination of the highest political officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Such a policy has also been pursued in practice, and particularly since the beginning of the aggression against Iran on February 28, 2026, it has been systematically implemented with the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and several high-ranking political officials."

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN added: "Such a policy is a clear indication of a serious violation of peremptory norms of international law. Such threats, stemming from criminal mindsets, are deeply concerning."
