Welcome to this week's episode of the series "Let's Know Islam". Today, we continue to discuss the Day of Resurrection. None of the divine religions have spoken about the Day of Resurrection as much as the divine religion of Islam. In fact, hundreds of ayahs of Holy Quran have stated the reasons behind the occurrence of the Day of Resurrection and its developments.

Ayahs of Holy Quran have referred to some of the discussions between different groups of people on the Day of Resurrection: talks between the faithful in Heaven; talks between the faithful and sinners; talks among sinners; and talks between angels and the inhabitants of Heaven and inmates of Fire.

The content of these talks show the righteous path to mankind, and are highly educational and influential for every one of us in this world.

On the Day of Judgement, the inmates of Fire plead for assistance. They make strenuous efforts to save themselves from Fire.

The 50^th and 51^st ayahs of Surat al-A'raf in Holy Quran note: The inmates of Fire will call out to the inhabitants of paradise, 'Pour on us some water, or something of what Allah has provided for you.' They will say, 'Allah has indeed forbidden these two to the faithless!' Those who took their religion for diversion and play and whom the life of the world had deceived. So today We will forget them as they forgot the encounter of this day of theirs, and as they used to impugn Our signs.

As it is understood from these ayahs, the pleas of disbelievers and the unjust on that day shows their frustration and helplessness.

Meanwhile, a number of ayahs and narrations have also discussed talks between the inhabitants of paradise and the inmates of Fire.

Those who settle in paradise, can also observe others. The 39^th to 47^th ayahs of Surat al-Muddaththir in Holy Quran party describe the People of the Right Hand, who are the inhabitants of paradise, and mention their dialog with the inmates of Fire. These ayahs note: except the People of the Right Hand. They will be in gardens, questioning concerning the guilty: 'What drew you into Hell?' They will answer, 'We were not among those who prayed. Nor did we feed the poor. We used to gossip along with the gossipers, and we used to deny the Day of Retribution, until death came to us.

From these ayahs, it can be understood that the relationship between the inhabitants of paradise, and the inmates of Fire is never severed. The inhabitants of paradise can observe the inmates of Fire and talk to them.

In that time, the inhabitants of paradise ask an important question from the inmates of Fire. Note that at times the inhabitants of paradise see some of the inmates of Fire, with whom they interacted in the mortal world, asking them what they had done in this world to enter hell?

Meanwhile, the inmates of Fire state a number of important factors as the root causes of them becoming the inmates of Fire. They state that they did not truly observe their prayers. If one observes true prayers; other good deeds of the individual are also accepted and approved by God Almighty.

The second reason that the inmates of Fire state for becoming the inmates of Fire is that they did not feed the poor and needy. Meanwhile, the exegetes of the said ayah have said that the ayah refers to the refusal of the individual to pay Zakat.

It is noteworthy that many ayahs of Holy Quran have mentioned prayers and Zakat next to each other, which means that the individuals, as well as reforming their relationship with the one and only creator of the universe, should also maintain the best relationship with people; and to sympathize with, and assist them.

The other reason which the inmates of Fire state for entering hell is that they used to gossip along with the gossipers. In this world, the corrupt and evil doers state that bad friends and associates as the root cause of their misguidance. Meanwhile, on the Day of Resurrection, the inmates of Fire also complain about their unworthy and bad friends, and name them as the root cause of their fall. The inmates of Fire plead to God, saying that initially they were not bad individuals; that they had found the righteous path, but, their bad friends derailed them from the righteous path.

The last factor which the inmates of Fire name for entering hell is that they always denied the Day of Retribution until death came to them.

Obviously, denial of the Day of Judgement undermines spiritual and ethical values, and sets the stage for commitment of sins. If someone truly believes in the Day of Judgement, he will never commit any offense.

Based on these ayahs; observation of prayers, payment of Zakat, refusal to gossip with gossipers, and maintenance of faith in the Day of Resurrection play important and significant roles in mankind's growth and development.
