Leader: Liberation of Palestine a Divine Promise
Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received reciters of the Holy Qur’an and eulogists on Thursday, May 17, the first day of the blessed month of Ramadhan.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in his meeting with reciters of the Holy Qur’an and eulogists on Thursday, May 17, the first day of the blessed month of Ramadhan, said one of the crucial requirements of the Islamic Ummah today is the need for “intimacy with the Qur’an and practice its instructions” and stressed that the current woes of the world of Islam such as the regrettable condition of Palestine and the crimes of the Zionist regime, particularly in recent days, are the result of detachment from the Qur’an.
He said the Liberation of Palestine is a Divine Promise and the US is helpless despite moving its embassy to the occupied Islamic holy city of Bayt al-Moqaddas.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution made it clear: “Qods is the capital of Palestine, and by God’s grace, Palestine will be liberated from the clutches of enemies and the US and its puppets cannot do a damn thing in the face of truth and divine order.”
He underscored the need for more attention to the holy Qur’an in all of the dimensions of life and pointed to the predicaments and plights of the world of Islam, particularly the conditions of the people of Palestine.
He said, “You saw the crimes of the malicious and bogus Zionist regime in killing dozens of people and injuring thousands of Palestinians. In such conditions, some complain about the US not taking a stand, whereas the US and many of the Western governments are complicit in these crimes.”
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the Islamic Ummah, Muslim leaders and Islamic states must take a stance against these crimes, referring to ayah 29 of Surah Fath: “The holy Qur’an tells us to be tough against the enemies of religion and infidels, and be kind among yourselves; however, due to aloofness from the holy Qur’an today, we are witnessing war and conflict among Muslims in the world of Islam and submission to infidels.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said: “If the Islamic Ummah grows intimate with the holy Qur’an, as has been stipulated in the Quran, they will undoubtedly overcome the enemy because this is the divine pledge.”
He said Qur’anic recitation and meetings are a prelude to deliberation on the timeless wisdom of the holy Qur’an and understanding and implementing it in our daily life and in society.
Addressing Iranian youths, he said: “Increase your affinity and familiarity with the holy Qur’an day by day, because the comprehension of the heavenly scripture and practicing it will become the source of your strength, might and honour.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: “I thank God because the holy Qur’an, the people's enthusiasm towards the holy Qur’an, Qur’anic concepts, Qur’anic learning, Qur’anic memorization and Qur’anic deliberations are developing in the country, on a daily basis: these are the blessings of the Islamic Revolution.
He added: “Do not forget about reading the holy Qur’an: you should not forget about contemplating on it. The Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (peace upon him) has mentioned in a sermon, "No one will sit beside the holy Qur’an but that when he rises he will achieve one addition or one diminution--addition in his guidance or diminution in his spiritual blindness," [Nahjul Balaghah, Sermon 176].
Ayatollah Khamenei said: “When we sit by the holy Qur’an and rise after benefiting from it, our guidance should have increased and our blindness should have decreased. Our understanding of the Qur’an should increase. Our familiarity with true concepts and teachings should increase. We should get closer to Allah the Exalted. Our interest in praying should grow deeper.”
He said: “We thank Allah, the Exalted, for allowing us to live long enough so that we may have the opportunity to experience another month of Ramadan, to participate in this enlightened meeting, once more, and to benefit from the blessings of the holy Qur’an within the scope of our capacity. I, sincerely, thank all those who recited the holy Qur’an, who delivered a performance, and who cooperated in the spiritual deployment of this enlightened meeting.”
In conclusion, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution sought God Almighty’s forgiveness for the martyrs of Palestine and asked for greater perseverance for those striving for the right cause.
He stressed, “In the face of the inviolable divine order, the US and its accomplices will be forced to accept defeat and surrender.”
Before the Leader’s speech, several masters and veterans, young reciters, recitation groups, vocalists, and eulogists displayed their talents concerning the holy Qur’an.
At the end of the ceremony, the evening prayers were led by Ayatollah Khamenei, who sat with the gathering for breaking the day’s fast.
