Start of Trump presidency with human rights violation (1)

A few weeks into the Presidency of Donald Trump, the list of human rights violations of the 45th US president is already long.

Undoubtedly one of the most controversial measures of Donald Trump against human rights is signing the order on banning the nationals of 7 Muslim countries to enter the US. We are going to study the issue of human rights violation by the White House new comer.

Donald Trump the 45^th US president just 25 days after assuming power put the US against the world in a way in an unprecedented manner. Trump signed an executive order under which entry of all refugees has been banned for at least 120 days and the Syrian refugees until further notice. He also banned the entry of citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days.

The US president’s order based on banning visas for immigrants and Muslims of 7 predominantly Muslim countries provoked a wave of internal and international protests and many US officials and personalities, high-ranking officials of other countries, international organs and media activists described the decision as racist and inhumane.

António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres, the Portuguese UN Secretary General, at the inaugural ceremony of the summit of African Union in Addis Ababa said: the African borders have remained open for those who need protection even while many borders of the most advanced countries of the world were closed.  

Zeid Ra’ad Hussein, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in a message on Twitter wrote: discrimination on the basis of nationality is forbidden under human rights. The ban which has been imposed by the US is ruthless and thereby wasting the sources needed for countering terrorism. The UN official termed the order on banning the citizens of 7 Muslim countries from entering the US as illegal.

American politicians especially the democrats, civil organs and US human rights activists expressed their disgust towards Trump’s order, stressing that they will continue their protests till lifting the order. Hilary Clinton: I declare my solidarity with the people who have gathered across the US for defending values and the constitution.

Stephen Martin Walt, professor of international affairs at Harvard University and one of the world's top 10 thinkers in 2009 and 2010, tweeted: banning issuance of visas by Trump is a kind of religious prejudice against Muslims for this prohibition has no room in the category of security and is merely a religious prejudice against Muslims.

 Chris Murphy, the democrat senator, also wrote on Twitter: prohibition of visas for immigrants and travelers of 7 Muslim countries is illegal. I will present a legal bill for the immediate lifting of this hateful and dangerous order. Murphy continued: We drop bombs on you in your country and create a human nightmare. Then we imprison you in your country.

Nicolas Burns, US undersecretary of state during George Bush’s presidency, denounced Trump’s anti-immigrant plan on Twitter writing: We are immigrant and asylum-seeking nation. Madeline Albright, Henry Kissinger, Gloria Stephen and Albert Einstein were all immigrants.

John McCain the US republican senator said: Donald Trump’s order on banning entry of immigrants into the country only put advertising food at the disposal of the Terrorist Daesh. McCain in an interview with the CBS TV network described Trump’s order as improper and mistake.

US Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also declared that his country should be very careful while implementing the anti-immigration order of the US president. He said: Intensified screening of immigrants is a good idea but we should not forget that some of our best sources in fighting terrorists whether in the country or abroad are Muslims.

John Gartner professor of psychology in New York believes that Donald Trump is a malignant narcissistic personality and that its symptoms are anti-social and aggressive behavior, sadism and severe schizophrenia.

Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, condemning Donald Trump’s order on banning entry of immigrants and citizens of 7 Islamic States into the US and reiterated that the British government has the duty to explicitly declare its opposition to this law. In a statement Haroun Khan said: “This ban on Muslims is not only an inconvenience, it is downright dangerous to British values of equality and non-discrimination. At the same time, the ban will affect us here in Britain, as those with dual nationality such as Conservative MP Nadhim Zahawi will also be affected by this ban. Our government should express in no uncertain terms how daft this policy is to its US counterparts, and press home how counter-productive it is in its professed fight to confront terrorism.”

French foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, releasing a Tweet criticized the discriminatory measures against immigrants in the US. He wrote: acceptance of immigrants is a humanitarian duty and stressed that terrorism knows no nationality and discrimination is not a proper reaction.

This comes as the French President Francois Hollande stressed that the US new administration is enflaming the idea of populism and even extremism. In a speech, Hollande said that what today is raised as the dialogue of the US new government is public deceit and even extremism.

Italy’s Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni wrote on Twitter that his country considers no discrimination for entry of refugees and nationals of Islamic states and added that Italy is adhered to its values. It is claimed that open communities and mass identity without any discrimination are considered the columns of Europe.

The Italian infrastructure and transport minister Graziano Delrio in the gathering of Democratic Party’s managers stressed that: Trump’s decision is beyond political spectrum and in contradiction to US and European history. Apparently Trump’s decision is also contradictory to our theory towards the society. Limiting entry of immigrants into the country is contrary to what for years has encouraged the culture of the US and even the rightists. This is a full change of direction even towards Europe. The EU believes in entry of people and European structures.

Wave of opposition to Donald Trump’s decision is stronger in the US than any other place. Chaos, bewilderment and display of public anger after issuing Trump’s order have swept the US main cities especially the airports. In Lafayette Park in Washington, a protest rally was held and the protestors expressed their anger over Trump’s recent order against Muslims and stressed their support for Muslims. Thousands of people from all walks of life along with human rights activists  took part in the gathering and from each marched toward the White house and chanted slogans in support of Muslims.

At Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport nearly one thousand people chanted slogans such as “Without hate, without fear, asylum seekers Welcome to America.” At Detroit Metropolitan Airport people held demonstration and when they were asked to leave the airport the demonstrators disagreed and entered the airport halls.

The German daily General-Anzeiger in an analysis considered the White House’s recent decision as the beginning of US move to isolation under Trump presidency and wrote: "Trump’s executive order of banning the nationals of 7 predominantly Muslim countries from traveling to America is a hasty decision which has not been thought about. Thus the US loses its credit as an international partner. The US under Trump’s presidency moves speedily towards isolation.”

According to Trump’s recent order a prohibition has been enforced against individuals based on religion and nationality. With this order, Trump has chosen a special inhuman tendency which is similar to Germany of 1993. These hasty and uncalculated measures will harm the US. In this way, the US loses its credibility as an international partner and what is more difficult is that it loses its credibility inside the country and among its citizens.

Donald Trump’s executive order shows that the extremist American racism has once again emerged and turned into part of the culture of the elites ruling over the west and the US.

Discrimination against Muslims in the US shows that racism has increased. Trump made the racist remarks while due to his previous statements against Muslims he had already been criticized but regardless of this issue, he still insists on the necessity of racist treatment of Muslims.

In an interview with the CBS network, Trump said: I believe that we as a government should now think of racial discrimination. If we have a look at Israel we see that they implement this policy with success several times. Certainly you should know that I hate the concept of discrimination but we should start employing axioms.

These measures are taken in the west at a time when the hollow claims of democracy and human rights of its leaders have spread everywhere.
