The book which kindled Trump’s wrath
In early January 2018, American writer Michael Wolf published a book that topped as a bestseller in the Amazon Online Book Store.
In Washington bookstore, all editions of the book were sold and disappeared on the first day. The book which the US president Donald Trump and his lawyers tried much to prevent its publication is called “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House”. It is a critique of the personality and performance of Donald Trump. The author, Michael Wolf, said that his book has been written on the basis of over 200 interviews with the president and his senior officials over a period of 18 months and says his book is likely to end Trump’s presidency. In a TV interview with NBC, Wolf thanked Trump for causing the book to be sold to the last edition, saying, "Trump not only helps me sell my book but also confirms what I have written. It is very unusual for the US president to stop publishing a book." We will review excerpts of the book and provide feedbacks on the content.
Wolf in his book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” referring to the interviews with some of the White House officials like Steve Bannon, has revealed that Trump behaves like a child and he lacks the ability of leading a country. Trump’s senior economic advisor, Gary Cohen, says that Trump reads nothing even one-page notes and the short and brief reports. He doesn't observe behavioral etiquettes. He wakes up in the middle of important meetings with the world leaders as he feels tired and bored. Michael Wolf goes on to say: There are two basic issues here. One is that Donald Trump reads nothing; I emphasize once again, nothing. When you work for the US president, a strange problem is how to give him information. The second problem is that Trump not only does not read but he does not listen to your words, either. As you cannot say anything to Trump, it has been a presidential crisis since the very first day.
Trump’s former White House advisor, Steve Bannon who many think he owes his victory in presidential campaign to his strategies, revealed that the US president has no mental stability.
Bannon says that Trump has been accused of selfishness to the extent that nothing is more important to him than his image. According to Bannon, Trump has become richer every day by selling his name, and you can see his name on hotels, casinos and golf courses. He acts in the White House in the same way he has played on TV series. In the trainee's series, he would use a famous term: "You're fired." Now according to Bannon, in order to show himself the man of the hard days, Trump acts like the way he acted in trainee’s series and fires others.
The publication of the Book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" triggered harsh reaction by Tramp, and Trump's lawyers were struggling to stop its distribution. American historian, Tim Naftali, spoke to CNN about his reaction to the publication of the book, saying: There was no need to publish the book to reveal Donald Trump's abnormal behavior. Instead of directly ignoring the book the president directly attacked it because he cannot control himself.
The disclosures from the White House are not limited to Donald Trump's personality. They also refer to the US political atmosphere. Inspector Muller investigates Russian intervention and how it works in US presidential elections. Although this book does not refer to Donald Trump directly, the author of the book, Wolf, quoted Bannon as saying that Donald Jr. Trump, a son of the president, had contacts with the Russians, and he described this meeting "treacherous during the 2016 election campaign". Donald Trump, in response to these remarks, said that Bannon had lost his mind.
Although after the publication of the book Fire and Fury, Steve Bannon withdrew his remarks but the evidence presented in this book reinforces this suspicion. Donald Trump has repeatedly denied these allegations, and in response to Steve Bannon’s remarks, he said: "He not only lost his job but also lost his mind."
Another major revelation presented in this book against Trump is the complicity of Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman and Donald Trump and his family, which Wolf describes as a kind of collaboration based on little knowledge of decision-making.
According to an interview with some White House officials, the author of the book “Fire and Fury” has revealed that after the declaration of Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, he announced that he had engineered a coup in Arabia along with his son-in-law, Jared Kushner and placed bin Salman at the head of Saudi affairs. The book also contains new evidence of Trump's support for bin Salman's suppression of the Saudi princes.
Wolf continues: "By ignoring the advice on foreign policy or opposing them, the president agreed with the plans of the Saudis to force Qatar. Trump believed that Qatar sponsored terrorist groups - but similar records from Saudi regime should be ignored. His argument was that only some members of the Saudi family provided support to terrorist groups. "
In another part of this book, the origins of Trump's extremist views on Iran and the fact that he has put Iranophobia at the top of his foreign policy has also been addressed. Wolf writes: Trump learned from his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, that he who opposes Iran is a great person.
Disclosures of thr book Fire and Fury have drawn the attention of many in the world, especially America. Wolf, said to the NBC network: The present time is a bad time, and the much attention drawn on my book proves that such materials are not exaggerated and unreasonable. That's why we have to say that the book is sort of an implementation of Amendment 25 of the Constitution.
Wolf says the members of the White House have fully spoken about this option and said that we have not yet reached the level of fully implementing Amendment 25. It is worth noting that this principle pertains to the succession of the US President and that is when his behavior and mental state are questioned.
Although the White House and Trump have repeatedly said the claims made in this book are "unrealistic”, one week after the release of the book and Wolf's revelations against the Trump government, the first result of Gallup's poll in 2018, showed that Trump's popularity has dropped to 37%. The survey of December 31, 2017 had declared Trump’s popularity at 39%.
Given the facts expressed by Wolf on Trump’s previous behavior and personality profiles, it can be assumed that the controversial claims raised in the book will be Trump’s mental troubles in the coming months and will affect his hasty decisions and comments in the White House.
