Israeli army chief opposes continuation of Gaza war

Pars Today – A US daily reported that the chief of staff of the Israeli army has told the cabinet he supports halting the war in Gaza and proceeding with a prisoner exchange.

According to The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, Eyal Zamir told the cabinet that he favors the release of Israeli captives under the current circumstances. He reportedly warned that continuing military operations in Gaza could endanger the captives' lives. Zamir also informed the Netanyahu cabinet that the long-term weakening of Hamas as a result of the war remains highly uncertain. (Mehr news agency)
