Iran, Russia sign memorandum on joint film production

Pars Today- Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance has announced the signing of an agreement and memorandum of understanding on joint film productions between Iran and Russia, saying the MoU, following lengthy talks and the necessary preparations, sets out the framework for future cooperation between the two countries in film production and the cinema market.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi said in a video interview with the “Today’s World” program that Iran’s Cultural Week in Russia will be held with the participation of 168 Iranian artists in four cities: Kazan, Moscow, Astrakhan and St. Petersburg.
The event, which will run for 10 to 12 days, will feature programs in various fields, including music, visual arts, handicrafts, theater, cinema, video games, animation, literature and manuscripts.
He added that the National Orchestra of Iran will perform in several Russian cities, including at the famous Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. An Iranian Film Week will also be held in St. Petersburg, featuring 14 films, while programs for children and teenagers have also been planned.
Salehi described Russia as one of Iran’s important opportunities in the field of cultural diplomacy, saying the two countries’ history of cultural and artistic relations, the large Russian-speaking population and existing capacities in cinema, literature and creative industries provide a suitable basis for expanding cooperation.
Referring to his meetings with Russia’s culture minister and deputy prime minister, the Iranian culture minister said that at a joint meeting of the two countries’ culture ministries, proposals from specialized working groups for future cooperation were reviewed. The memorandum on joint film production was also signed within this framework, paving the way for a new phase of Iran-Russia cooperation in producing films and expanding the film market.
He also described the performance of the song “Steadfast Iran” as a symbol of the resilience of the Iranian people and artists in difficult circumstances.
