Araghchi: We will stand firm against any aggression against Iran

Pars Today- Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, referring to the US government’s breaches of its commitments, stressed Iran’s readiness to confront any act of aggression.

According to Pars Today, citing Tasnim news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, speaking to the US network NBC’s Meet the Press program, said: “There is always hope for diplomacy, but if I am to be honest, given the behavior of the United States over the past two years, there is no reason for Iran to return to diplomacy and engage with the US government once again.

He added: “In 2025, they proposed negotiations. We accepted and entered into talks. But in the middle of the negotiations, they attacked Iran. Eight months later, in February 2026, they again proposed negotiations. Once again, we accepted, and once again, right in the middle of the negotiations, they attacked Iran.

Emphasizing the US government’s breach of its commitments, Araghchi said: “After that, following the war, they proposed negotiations to reach an agreement. We accepted. We negotiated for three months, but it took only two weeks for them to violate an agreement that they themselves had signed.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi once again reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace and stability, saying: “We are still trying to make use of the path of diplomacy because we believe that no opportunity for peace should be missed.

Araghchi stressed: “Just as we are ready for negotiations, we are also prepared to face any challenge. We will stand firm against any aggression.

The Iranian foreign minister once again stated: “We will stand up to any aggression against us, even if it leads to an apocalyptic war.

Araghchi also stressed: “We have confidence in ourselves. Iran is fully prepared for both diplomacy and war, and the enemy has already been tested in both arenas.

Referring to Iran’s proposal, which was rejected by Trump, he said: “A completely logical plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is on the table. If they are truly seeking an agreement, they can witness the reopening of the strait on the sixth day by implementing practical steps under a seven-day plan.

The Iranian foreign minister said: “Iran has never violated an agreement, and it was the United States that withdrew from its commitments without any justification. Responsibility for rejecting the current logical proposal or failing in the diplomatic process rests directly with them.

He stressed: “Iran has prioritized ‘confidence-building.’ Therefore, the prerequisite for any progress in the negotiations is the release of frozen assets and an end to the economic blockade, which the United States must implement.”
